Queanbeyan Masjid

Queanbeyan Region is witnessing significant migration of Muslim Families (over 500 Muslims as per 2011 census). New Suburbs of Googong and Tralee have new Muslim families migrating from Canberra. Several Muslims brothers and sisters are working in Queanbeyan. However, there is no Masjid in Queanbeyan.

Muslims in Queanbeyan are struggling for years to have a dedicated place for worship of Allah swt, which they can establish regular prayers. The Masjid shall act as a meeting point for community and a Dawa’ah Centre. Muslim community needs an Islamic library and gymnasium & sports facilities for youth as well as regular Islamic and Quran classes for Adults and Children.

Saarban Islamic Trust is leading the efforts to establish a place of public worship in Queanbeyan. Saarban Islamic Trust proposal to build a Masjid in Queanbeyan has been accepted by the local council and the development application has been approved.

Saarban Islamic Trust is a part of the Islamic Forum for Australian Muslims (IFAM), IFAM ACT was founded in 2008 and is a geographical unit of IFAM, responsible for the ACT and Queanbeyan area. The Saarban Islamic Trust has strong local ties and is present throughout NSW. The main objectives are to conduct social and religious activities, with the women and youth as the focus.
